The Month of Tammuz
Tammuz ~ is the fourth month on the Jewish calendar. It is 29 days and envelops a season of judgment and exile which continues half way through the month of AV. The name is believed to be incorporated from the time the Jew's were in Babylon,
The name of Tammuz does not have one firm definition but a few; a Sumerian sun god (Shamash or Dumuzid) consort of Ishtar (Inanna). Marking the beginning of summer and decline of daylight hours symbolizing the decline of Tammuz. And hence in Scripture Ezekiel 8:14 writes about the weeping for Tammuz, an even abhorrent to God Almighty.
