The Month Of Shevat

The Month of Shevat
1 Shevat ~ For thirty-seven days, Moshe spoke these words to all Israel. He began the first of Shevat and ended the seventh of Adar. His first words were: “You have dwelt long enough on this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and come to the Amorite mountain and all its neighbors, in the Aravah, on the mountain, and in the lowland, and in the south, and at the seacoast; the land of the Canaanite and the Lebanon, until the great river, the Euphrates River. See! I have given the Land before you; come and possess the Land that Hashem swore to your forefathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Yaakov, to give them and their children after them.” His concluding words were:
“There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to help you, And in His excellency on the clouds.
27 The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say, ‘Destroy!’
28 Then Israel shall dwell in safety, The fountain of Jacob alone, In a land of grain and new wine; His heavens shall also drop dew.
29 Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, The shield of your help And the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, And you shall tread down their high places.” ~ Deuteronomy 33:26 ~ OU.org
15 Shevat (Tu B'Shevat) ~ New Year for Trees. Recognizes mankind's relationship with stewardship for God's divine creation. Many plant trees on this day.
This is one of four New Years recognized in Judaism:
1) Rosh Hashanah (1 Tishrei) Head of the Year; marks the beginning of creation
2) Tu B'Shevat (15 Shevat) New Year for Trees.
3) The First of Nisan ~ Designated as the first month as written in Torah Exodus 12:2 "This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you."
4) The First of Elul ~ New Year for the tithing of animals in the Temple times. And begins a month of spiritual preparation for Rosh Hashanah.
Zechariah 1:7 - 6:8
24 Shevat ~ Zechariah's Eight Visions in One Night ~ This book reveals God's great desire for Israel to return to Him that He may bless the nations. The symbolism through the reality we are living is revealed in the follow pattern the LORD has laid out.
1. Myrtle Trees – Peace among the Nations in the Earth (1:7-17).
2. Four Horns – Judgment of the Nations for their Evil (1:8-21).
3. Measuring Line – The Habitation of Jerusalem (2:1-13).
4. Joshua – Restoration of the Priestly Line (3:1-10).
5. Zerubbabel – Restoration of the Royal Line (4:1-14).
6. Flying Scroll – Removal of Sin from Israel (5:1-4).
7. Woman in a Basket – Removal of Sin from the Nations (5:5-11).
8. Four Chariots – Peace among the Nations in the Earth (6:1-8).
God the Father's plan to restore Israel, though not just the land and the Jews, but the grafted in nations that the name Israel represents. And His coming as the means to 'restore the temple' and peace among the nations can be understood through these eight visions had by Zechariah in one night.
28 Shevat (circa 134 BC) ~ Antiochus V abandoned his siege of Jerusalem and his plans for the city's ruin. In Hasmonean times, this day was observed as a holiday. ~ Chabad.org
