God loves you and offers you a full and meaningful life.
Jesus tells us:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16
and
"I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly" John 10:10
Man(kind) was created to have fellowship with God, but because of our self-will independent stubbornness we have broken this relationship by what the Bible calls sin. In order to restore this relationship there are three things that must be done:
1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner.
The Bible says that all of us have broken God’s commandments:
“There is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10 and “all have sinned” Romans 3:23
2. Believe that Jesus Christ, God incarnate, died on the cross for your sins.
Believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the dead as payment for your sins:
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved” Romans 10:9
3. Change direction. Turn away from your sinful way of life.
The Bible says:
“God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent
(the word repent means to change direction, i.e. away from your sins),
because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness” Acts 17:30-31
You can have your sins forgiven and begin experiencing a relationship with God today. Pray something like this...
“Lord I realize that I am a sinner and that I need your forgiveness. I believe that You paid the
price for my sins on the cross. I believe that You are God who came in the flesh, who rose again
from the dead and that You want to have a relationship with me. Come into my life. Forgive me.
Be my Lord. Be my God. I want to turn away from my sins and begin to follow You. Change me.
Empower me with Your Holy Spirit to live my life for You in Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”
If you prayed that prayer, and meant it, you have begun a relationship with Jesus Christ, and God has forgiven you of your sins. He has put His Holy Spirit within you. He will guide you. You are a new creation and can start anew!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation; old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Welcome to the family of God! May the LORD Jesus Christ strengthen you as you seek Him, believe and follow Him. For all who are in Christ Jesus they have passed from death to life. This is not just one time moment in your life, no. The LORD has much to show, teach and bless you as your relationship with Him grows. This is a daily walk with Him and inviting Him into every part of your life.
Some of the promises He has for you as you believe and put your confidence in Him are:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
John 4:21-24 “Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.””
John 6:28-29 “Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.””
John 6:47 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.”
John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?””
Acts 19:4 “Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”
Romans 9:33 “As it is written: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.””
Romans 10:13-14 “For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”
Philippians 1:29 “ to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, . . . .”
James 2:23 “And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.”
1 John 3:23 “And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.”
The Greek word used in all these Scriptures is πιστεύω (pronounced pe-styu-o)
Strong's Bible Concordance defines this as:
- to think to be true, to be persuaded of, to credit, place confidence in
- of the thing believed
- to credit, have confidence
- in a moral or religious reference
- used in the NT of the conviction and trust to which a man is impelled by a certain inner and higher prerogative and law of soul
- to trust in Jesus or God as able to aid either in obtaining or in doing something: saving faith
- mere acknowledgment of some fact or event: intellectual faith
- to entrust a thing to one, i.e. his fidelity
- to be intrusted with a thing
